• Serfs become his property
• If you were born a peasant, you die a peasant.
• Three basic categories
• 5%- Clergy (priests and monks)
• 5%- Aristocrats were lords, barons, ladies, and knights.
• 90%- Serfs (work for those people)
• You're class was in your genes.
•  Lords went to great lengths to capture runaway serfs
• Put serfs in stocks
• Monks had to follow rules of Benedict written in book
